For an exhibition showcasing collaborations between Onitsuka Tiger and various artists, a hybrid between catalogue and fanzine was designed. The challenge was how to print the exhibition images into the catalogue in time for the opening, even though the exhibits were only finished one day before. The solution was a brochure, similar to a newspaper, without binding to save one production step. To fill empty spaces, pages designed with Japanese patterns were inserted. Recognizing that lookbooks often end up in the trash when a new collection is released, we gave the booklet a second function: the patterned pages can later be used as gift wrap.
Not only was Onitsuka quite pleased and ordered the complete lookbook for the next season, but the printer was so kind to produce a few extra pages for me. Like this could use some wrapping paper in private that I've designed for the following years!
